CSIR-Kulima-UCT project to integrate climate change into planning in the SADC Region

USAID has agreed to fund an extension of the current SADC Climate Risk Capacity Building project.  The current project has produced a publication entitled "Climate Risk and Vulnerability: A Handbook for Southern Africa."  In the extension phase, this handbook will be used to form the basis of bespoke training in a number of SADC countries in order to improve the integration of climate information in decision-making.  The extension phase will also have a new component on communicating weather and climate information to humanitarian organisations for the purposes of integration into emergency preparedness and response activities.  This component will take place through RIACSO - an inter-agency working group for the SADC region, led by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
